Acoustic Calculators

Educational acoustics calculators for preliminary estimates. The tools assume idealized conditions and are not a substitute for calibrated field measurements, a complete engineering model, or a test standard.

New: Transmission loss and sound leakage calculators — composite walls and doors, open gaps, room-to-room level estimates and mass law.

Combined Sound Pressure Levels

Add two independent, uncorrelated sound levels on an energy basis.

Combined level: 63.0 dB

Sound Level vs. Distance

Ideal free-field point-source estimate (inverse-square spreading). Not valid without correction for reflections, barriers, extended sources or atmospheric effects.

Estimated level: 74.0 dB

Frequency and Wavelength

Wavelength is sound speed divided by frequency. Default sound speed 343 m/s, approximately at 20°C.

Wavelength: 0.343 m

Sabine RT60 Estimate

Diffuse-field estimate: RT60 = 0.161 × room volume (m³) / equivalent absorption area (m² sabins). Results can be unreliable for non-diffuse rooms, nonuniform absorption and low frequencies.

Estimated RT60: 0.805 s
