Soundproofing FAQ

Every time we hear the word “soundproofing” we have to take a moment to step back and think about what people actually mean when they say it.
.
As with most things in life, soundproofing is one of those nebulous terms that can mean different things to different people. Perhaps most appropriately, soundproofing has a different level of meaning (and urgency) to the party that is creating the noise than to the party being disturbed by it!

Additionally, soundproofing a building (be it commercial, industrial, or residential) is subject to the law of diminishing returns. There is a theoretical point that can be arrived at where further increases in materials or labor expended in applying those materials to a building, will cease to provide any subjective benefit.

On-Site Acoustic testing specializes in finding the correct balance where performance and real world budgets coincide. Using specialized building acoustics software (running on dedicated specialist hardware) we first pinpoint the exact frequencies where sound and noise transmission are occurring. Next, we isolate deficiencies within the building that are allowing for the sound and noise transmission. Only then are we able to develop effective strategies for eliminating the noise transmission problems.

More information is available on this website concerning actual testing methods and testing standards.

Contact us today at 1-800-665-0080 to find out more about testing and treatment designed specifically for your application.
