Industrial and Factory Noise, Vibration & Air Quality Testing

Industrial noise, vibration and air-quality measurements for manufacturing plants, production facilities and other complex workplaces.

On-Site Acoustic Testing provides independent field testing to help facility managers, safety professionals, engineers and industrial clients characterize environmental conditions in operating facilities. Investigations can address employee noise exposure, equipment and process noise, vibration, indoor air quality and other site-specific concerns.

Industrial and Factory Noise Testing

Industrial facilities often contain multiple simultaneous noise sources, changing operating conditions and employees who move between work areas. OSAT can perform area sound-level measurements, frequency-spectrum analysis, equipment noise measurements and personal noise dosimetry to document the conditions relevant to the investigation.

Where occupational exposure is the concern, measurements can be planned around the applicable OSHA or project criteria. Where the objective is noise control or troubleshooting, detailed spectral and source measurements can help identify the equipment, process or transmission path contributing to the problem.

Noise Source Identification and Troubleshooting

Factory noise problems are not always resolved by measuring an overall decibel level. OSAT can use frequency analysis and specialized source-localization methods to distinguish individual contributors in complex environments. See our specialized noise testing and source localization services for investigations requiring acoustic-camera or directional measurements.

Machinery and Structural Vibration

Vibration measurements can be used to characterize machinery, building elements and other sources of structure-borne vibration. Depending on the project, measurements may include multi-axis vibration and frequency-spectrum analysis to identify dominant frequencies, compare operating conditions or help trace a vibration source.

Industrial Air Quality and Air Sampling

OSAT also performs indoor air quality and air-sampling testing. Investigations can combine direct-read measurements with contaminant-specific personal or area sampling when appropriate. Sampling media, flow rate, duration and analytical method are selected for the substance or condition being evaluated rather than applying a generic air-quality test.

Applications

  • Manufacturing and production facilities
  • Warehouses and distribution operations
  • Fabrication and machine shops
  • Food and beverage processing
  • Pharmaceutical and electronics manufacturing
  • Utilities and energy facilities
  • Building-products and materials manufacturing
  • Recycling and waste-processing operations
  • Equipment and process troubleshooting

Independent Field Documentation

Testing can be structured to establish baseline conditions, investigate a complaint, evaluate a specific process or piece of equipment, document employee exposure, compare pre- and post-correction conditions, or provide independent measurements for engineering and management decisions.

Discuss an Industrial Testing Project

Contact On-Site Acoustic Testing with the facility type, process or equipment involved, operating schedule and the concern to be investigated so an appropriate field measurement plan can be developed.

Please list the city, state/province, and country where testing will take place.
Select all that apply.
Optional. Examples: ASTM, ISO, ANSI, ICD-705, project specification, code requirement, or acceptance criterion.
If yes, only indicate that secure handling is required. Do not submit classified, CUI, export-controlled, or other sensitive information through this form.
List the project criteria and type of testing required, if known (noise survey, dosimetric, AIIC, ASTC, NIC, air quality, etc.)
