Acoustical plan review can identify sound-isolation, acoustical-security and noise-control problems before they become costly field corrections.
On-Site Acoustic Testing reviews architectural and engineering documents for projects where airborne sound isolation, impact isolation, acoustical security or building-services noise are important design requirements. Early review allows potential deficiencies to be addressed while partitions, doors, penetrations and mechanical systems can still be changed efficiently.
Acoustical Design and Plan Review
Review can include partition types and junctions, floor/ceiling assemblies, doors and glazing, penetrations, structure-borne transmission paths, mechanical-room interfaces and HVAC connections between acoustically sensitive spaces.
For secure facilities, review can also focus on construction details affecting acoustical security in SCIF, SAPF and VTC environments.
Reduce Rework and Field Remediation
Identifying an unsuitable assembly or transmission path during design is generally more practical than correcting it after finishes are installed. Plan review can also help establish appropriate field-verification testing so performance can be evaluated during construction and at project completion.
Acoustic Modeling and Field Verification
Where appropriate, OSAT can supplement plan review with acoustic modeling of walls, floors, windows and other assemblies. Completed construction can then be evaluated using field procedures such as ASTM E336 ASTC testing, ASTM E1007 AIIC testing, or ASTM E966 façade testing, depending on the project.
